Requirements:
* A four-year college degree in marine related discipline, preferably from a marine academy or naval college. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education, although secondary certificate is a minimum educational requirement.
* At least 5 years of seafaring experience in a technical, responsible job, and another two to three years of experience in a similar or related position.
* Served as Master/Captain or Chief Officer/Executive Officer onboard international seagoing cargo vessels for at least 2 years.
* Must have good knowledge vessels cargo operations.
* Must have working knowledge of the ISPS Code.
* Must have working knowledge of various IMO conventions, other maritime laws, and port rules and regulations.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with all types of vessels that call at port.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety procedures that apply to vessels in and around the port.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with emergency rescue operations at sea or in the port or surrounding area.
* Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in wireless/radio frequency communications equipment, including certification.
* Requires advanced level of verbal and written communications skills in English. Other language skills helpful, especially Arabic and Hindi.
